See You At The Ex 2010 !

It is a tradition for my sister and I to attend the Canadian National Exhibit each year. It is a 16 day fair that is held in Toronto along the lake shore. It offers a variety of entertainment and events bringing the country to the city with a farm show along side a midway, great food and International shopping. Over the years we have gone with our family, parents, friends and now we go with our spouse. So Merlin, Dave, Amy and I packed up and heading off for a day of fun.

What we mostly enjoy is the International Pavilion with people from all over the world attending in order to sell their wares. People from all continents are represented and there are many interesting items to purchase. In the middle of the pavilion is a stage where they have performances that match the different cultures represented.

This year when we arrived we were entertained by a group from China. They were able to to amazing things with their bodies and with such ease!

The International Pavilion is separated with different stalls listing the country of origin of the products within it. You can see here India, Kashmir and Indonesia. There were many other stalls and it takes easily 3 hours to browse through this area.

The first year Dave and Merlin came together they found these little wooden slider flutes. They were very annoying but the boys had fun with them. Dave this year while unsupervised went and bought them both new flutes. Thanks a lot Dave! Merlin's has already been confiscated :)

Amy and I needed a break so grabbed a photo in the shopping area.

Here was a huge Ganesh that was made of sand. It was amazing to see all the sand sculptures that are displayed in a large area outside the main hall.

Here was my favorite though, done by a Dutch guy and was amazing to think that it didn't collapse when he cut the holes in to the shell. I have no idea how they do it, but amazing form of artwork.

Near the end of the day we all climbed on to these chairs called Footies Wootsies which really just vibrates and rejuvenates your feet and gives you the little umph you need to keep walking and all for the low price of 25 cents!

What a wonderful day with great company and given the chance to pick up a few new items for our home from all over the world.

See you next year at The Ex!!!
